Willem-Frederik van der Heijden

Last year a few of my colleagues joined the event and climbed the Mont Ventoux. I used a busy agenda and many other excuses to not participate, and wasn’t proud of it.

This year I decided to test my own abilities and do some fund raising for the good cause at the same time. That’s what you would call a Win-Win situation.

My exercise in the past has been limited to my daily trip by bike to and from the train station. Climbing the Mont Ventoux ‘demands’ training, which forces me to take the bike and cycle for a couple of hours and get some fresh air at the same time.

Holland is flat, especially the area where I live. No mountains and no hills; that means the real test will be in September….!
